Introduction
EasyGov Contracts (easygovcontracting.com) is a free web application that helps small businesses find and understand U.S. federal contracting opportunities. It pulls active solicitations from the public SAM.gov API and generates plain-English AI summaries to help you decide which opportunities to pursue.
This policy describes what information we collect when you use the service, how we use it, and what controls you have over your data.
Information We Collect
Account data
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.
Saved bookmarks
If you bookmark a contract opportunity, we store the opportunity's identifier alongside your account. We do not store any additional personal information about why you saved it or how you intend to bid.
Analytics data
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 collects page views, session duration, the referring page, device type, and UTM campaign parameters (source, medium, campaign name). This data is also mirrored to an internal database table for product analysis. GA4 data is anonymized and associated with a random browser identifier — not your name or email.
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment information, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, Employer Identification Numbers, government login credentials, or any other sensitive personal or financial documents.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions.
- To save and retrieve your bookmarked opportunities.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To contact you about important changes to the service or these policies.
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.
AI Processing
When you view a contract opportunity, the app may send the text of the solicitation — which is public U.S. government data sourced from SAM.gov — to the Anthropic Claude API to generate a plain-English summary. This solicitation text does not include any of your personal information. We do not send your email address, name, bookmarks, or any other account data to Anthropic.
Anthropic's handling of this data is governed by their own Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to operate EasyGov Contracts. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
- Supabase (supabase.com) — authentication, database storage, and row-level security for your account and bookmarks.
- Anthropic Claude API — generates AI summaries of solicitation text. No personal user data is included in these requests.
- Google Analytics 4 — web analytics via the gtag.js script. See the Analytics section above for details.
- SAM.gov (api.sam.gov) — source of federal contract opportunity data. This is a public government data source. You do not submit any information to SAM.gov through our service.
Cookies
We use two categories of cookies:
- Session cookie — Supabase sets a cookie to keep you logged in across page loads. This cookie is required for the service to function.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to distinguish between visits and measure engagement. These can be blocked using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling the session cookie will prevent you from staying logged in.
Data Retention
We do not yet have a defined data retention schedule. Your account data (email, hashed password, and bookmarks) is retained indefinitely until you request deletion. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings (26 months for event-level data).
Your Rights
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at info@easygovcontracting.com. We will process your request within a reasonable timeframe and confirm when deletion is complete.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. We are a small U.S.-based service and currently do not have formal processes for these requests beyond account deletion, but we will make a good-faith effort to accommodate reasonable requests.
Children's Privacy
EasyGov Contracts is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@easygovcontracting.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting a notice on the site or by sending an email to the address on your account. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated whenever the policy changes. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
